Labrador West United U16 Girls came home with the Silver in “B” Division after a trip to Mount Pearl for the 2012 Pepsi Cola Provincial Under-16 Girls Mega Tournament last weekend.
The girls played under the lights for the first game against Clarenville with Labrador West coming out on top with a final score of 4 to 3. Kara Buckley scored two goals; Florence Pinto and Jessica Travers each scored one. Janelle Howse earned the Hard Hat of the Game.
Labrador West came out victorious again for the second game, against the Southern Shore United with a final score 5 to 0, a shut out with goalies Marthea Cole and Courtney Burton. Jenna Andrews scored two goals, and Florence Pinto, Marthea Cole and Kara Buckley each scored one. Caroline Barthe earned the Hard Hat of the Game.
The girls played home team Mount Pearl for the third game. The girls knew that this would be a tough game and stepped it up, scoring the first goal and setting the intense momentum of the game. Final score was 2 to 1 for Mount Pearl, with Labrador West’s goal scored by Jessica Travers. The Hard Hat of the Game went to the goalies, Marthea Cole and Courtney Burton!
Lab West faced off against Mount Pearl for the championship game, with a final score of 4 to 1 for Mount Pearl and Labrador West’s goal scored by Kara Buckley, who earned the Hard Hat of the Game.
Allison Wensmen earned the MVP of the tournament, and Jessica Travers earned the MSP of the tournament.
