The Labrador West RNC issued a press release this morning that they are investigating a homicide in Labrador City.

According to the RNC in the early morning hours of April 26 officers from the Labrador City Detachment responded to a residence on Pine Avenue after receiving a report that two men had been involved in an altercation.

When officers arrived on scene they discovered a deceased male inside of the residence. A 30-year-old man, who was also in the home, was arrested by officers and has been charged with murder. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Labrador City this afternoon. RNC said it is believed the victim and accused are known to one another.

Investigative teams from St. John’s and Corner Brook are on their way to Labrador City this morning to assist in the investigation. Investigators are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death as well as positively identify the male victim.
