Church looking for a new location to get operations up and running

LABRADOR CITY, N.L.

Because of concerns with the building, the Salvation Army has closed their location at 423 Bartlett Dr. in Labrador City.

In a release, the Salvation Army said it regrets the short notice – but emphasized they are committed to serve the people of Labrador West.

“We are currently in the process of securing a new location for its operations,” Salvation Army Lieut. Norm Porter told the Aurora.

Plans have already put in place for church services. Starting Oct. 7, those services will be held Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at the Labrador West Arts and Culture Centre.

Porter said even though they don’t have an office right now, they are still available to provide assistance to people. Contact information is available on their Facebook page and on CRRS TV community channel. He also said updates will be posted there to keep people as informed as possible.

Porter said they hope the interim search will be short and look forward to getting back to providing regular activities, including their lunches, thrift shop and others as soon as possible.
