New charges, including attempted murder, laid following Bonavista incident

BONAVISTA, NL— A 26-year-old Catalina man is facing a total of 15 charges relating to an alleged incident that occurred Monday night, April 16.

Tyler Hicks is facing two charges of attempted murder, two of aggravated assault, and six of assault.

He is also facing charges of uttering threats, carrying a weapon (a bat) for a dangerous purpose and dangerous use of a motor vehicle.

According to an RCMP press release, police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision in a parking lot in Bonavista.

All three occupants of one of the vehicles were taken to Bonavista Hospital.

One person had to be removed from the vehicle with the assistance of the Bonavista Fire Department.

The accused will appear in Clarenville provincial courthouse again Thursday, April 26, for a status report.

He remains in police custody.
