Labrador City, N.L. — A man has been charged with personating a police officer after an accident in the town Saturday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m. the RNC responded to a two-vehicle collision on Grenfell Drive, Labrador City. During the investigation it was alleged that after the collision had occurred one of the drivers involved had identified himself as a police officer to two persons at the collision scene before the RNC got there.
A 40-year-old resident of Labrador City was arrested and charged with two counts of personating a peace officer under the Criminal Code. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with imprudent driving and backing a vehicle while unsafe to do so.
The man will appear in provincial court at a later date to answer to the charges.
