They call it the Enchanted Forest Trail, but lately it’s been a little less charming.
The short trail located near Massey Drive, which gets its name from the grown-in alders on a section of it, has become a popular one for outdoor enthusiasts, mostly mountain bikers.
Doug Miller, a biker who regularly hits the trail, says the experience has been sullied somewhat by the amount of litter and trash that has accumulated in the area.
Now, he and a handful of other bikers who enjoy trails like the Enchanted Forest Trail are going to do their part and clean it up.
The group will be gathering at the trail at around 9 a.m. Saturday to begin cleaning it up. The mess includes an old mattress in one section, cushions in another, a length of hose tucked into the trees at another point and general littler along the roughly one-kilometre trail.
Miller said anyone else who would like to help out is more than welcome to join them.
Miller has also started a new Facebook group called Trail Watch. That group, which is already discussing doing work to clean and spruce up other biking trails in the Corner Brook area, also serves as a forum to post advisories of hazards on the trails or areas that may need work done.
