The negotiating committees for the Iron Company of Canada and the Steelworkers Union are headed to Sept Iles today (Thursday, March 16) to go back to the bargaining table.
The two sides are headed back at the request of the conciliator, who presented a report to the minister of labor after talks between both sides with her assistance broke off.
The union told the Aurora they walked away over issues on pension changes, changes to extended vacations, retirement age and other matters.
The union is in a position to take a strike vote March 23.
The union has booked two membership meetings, March 20 at 9 p.m. and March 21 at 9 a.m. to bring members up to date on complete details of the talks.
The Aurora will continue to follow this story.
