The Labrador West Minor Hockey Association took part in the worldwide Women’s Hockey Day last weekend.

The female division hit the ice to celebrate the day by playing hockey. So far over 55 have registered for the league, and a special event on Saturday evening had over 20 young girls who never played hockey before give it a try.

The league is available to any female ages 9 and up, regardless of skill set. An all-star team will have tryouts for its under 12, under 15, and under 20 teams.

The female division has done well in the past, bringing back banners each year and two years ago won the A division.
