The Labrador West United U12 Girls All-Star team has returned from the mega provincial tournament in Mount Pearl undefeated for gold.
The team started strong in their first game with a score of 5 to 0 against Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Mallory Martin scored two goals and was the hardhat player of the game. Celeste Dunne also scored two goals and Jessie Reccord put one in.
The girls then played Marystown and won with a score of 3 to 0. Celeste Dunne earned the hardhat of the game with her two goals, and Amy Stoddart also scored a goal.
The girls kept momentum for the third game, played against Mount Pearl. The team came out on top with a score of 4 to 3. Celeste Dunne and Mallory Martin named Mackenzie Curran the hardhat player of the game with two goals, and a goal.
Lab West United then faced CBS for the forth game, with a final score of 2 to 0. Jessie Reccord was the hardhat player of the game and score one goal alongside Marie Manstan who also put one in.
With four straight runs under their belt, Lab West United entered the C division championship game undefeated, facing off against Mount Pearl. After a tense game, the team won the gold medal match with a score of 3 to 0. Amy Stoddart was named the hardhat player of the game and scored one goal. Celeste Dunne and Mallory Martin also each put one in the net.
The Lab West United most valuable player for the tournament was presented to Jessie Reccord. The hardhat player for the tournament was presented to Celeste Dunne, and Mallory Martin was named the team’s most spirited player.
