Talent surfaced from the Northern Lights Swim Club.
Six swimmers achieved personal best times and many of them exceeded expectations at the Long Course Championships in St. John's, May 28-30.
According to Giselle Pike, NLSC head coach, Sarah Barry placed second in the 200 fly and had quite an achievement, swimming an East Coast qualifying time in the 200 free.
It was the first champs swim meet for Tiffany Atkins and Justin Frampton, said Pike, and they also did surprisingly well.
Atkins, she explained, took off over 40 seconds from her events and achieved a new champ time in the 400 free, while Frampton also took time off his events and placed second in the 100 fly, 400 IM, and 200 fly.
What's more, Pike added, Nicole Winsor placed sixth in 50 fly and Allison Wensman placed eight in 50 breast, while Karley Carnford took off time in the 50 back and 50 breast and is getting closer to champ time in those events.
The Long Course Champs swimmers were congratulated for their achievements at the NLSC Awards Banquet, June 6.
Pike said there will be a few camps over the summer that swimmers can participate in and the club is gearing up for the next season which starts in September.
