Young figure skaters from Lab. West captured top spots at the 2010 Lamontagne Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Provincials held in Gander from Feb. 12-14.
Emily Benson from the Wabush Figure Skating Club placed first in her Pre-Novice Free Skate and won The Withers Award for Outstanding Performance.
Emma Byrne from Polaris Figure Skating Club also did well capturing first place in the Introductory Interpretive 11 Years and Younger skate.
Frances Bell, vice-president of the Wabush Figure Skating Club, said everybody had a good skate no matter where they placed and the event was well organized.
Leslie Byrne, president of the Polaris Figure Skating Club, added the girls improved from last year and they enjoyed going out and supporting each other during the fun-filled weekend.
