Letter to the Editor -
Dear Editor:
Never before in Canadian history have we had the button of active politics more on mute. It is almost like the politicians feel being out of sight, out of mind is the best way to handle this matter. What is really wrong with accountability? The politicians in Ottawa are whining because the Auditor General of Canada wants to see their expense accounts. I don't understand why they are barking up a tree and not wanting to let Shelia Fraser see their accounts? It almost appears like the little crackie is barking at their heels because it senses something not smelling right. It is only protocol to have your business accounts done once a year to understand where our hard-earned dollars are going, and to pay up if we owe the three levels of government taxes in order that our country, province, towns and cities can function financially.
It will be Canadians who will decide the future of every politician. I think, if they hide what they spend, they should not represent us in Ottawa. They should not use this as a political football once the auditor general does get into the depth of their spending.
