Studded tire usage permitted as of Nov. 1

@Rutledge it's ok to make the statement about studded tires,most cities unlike Ontario and most states in the US do not have the hills that we have in St John,s their roads and streets are at most very flat streets to drive on,again try getting up a hill like Leslie Street or Shaw Street or even Patrick street when you have to be at St Clares for work at 7am and the streets not even plowed,People like us who live on the side streets don,t even get plowed out until late morning or early afternoon,now tell your co worker who is going home after a 12 hour shift that I,m sorry but I can,t be there for another hour.And if you read the news most accidents on the TCH and the Outer Ring are mostly due to speed so I don,t feel bad about having studs on my Van.Lower your speed to the road conditions then maybe you will drive safe.

Nobody in Newfoundland will admit that all the ruts in the outer ring road and along the TCH are caused by studded tires. All the accidents and hydroplaning that happen in the summer months are caused by these ruts. It is time more consideration be given to those accidents and studded tires banned for tearing up the road. Normal snow tires are as good or better on snow than studs anyway. Another thing studs make the pavement as rough as coarse sandpaper, consequently you stud users are making other people's tire wear out much faster than they normally would. Ontario and States like Minnesota have seen the light and banned studded tires and saved themselves oodles of money in road repair. Come on Newfoundland let's save some money and have a much quieter ride.
