If people keep saying they can't get something to work, then it likely won't work.

That was the message motivational speaker Jeremy Bennett brought to the business community in Labrador West last Wednesday.

Bennett was invited through Dept. of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development to a luncheon sponsored by the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce and the mentalist/magician had his listeners captivated by his energetic and strong address based on the Law of Attraction.

"Whatever thought is in your minds, that is what you will attract," he stressed as he encouraged the membership to concentrate on the present.

"When it comes to past, present and future, only one exists," he said. "The present, the here and now, because the past is gone; it's not here anymore, and the future never comes, only the present is here."

Bennett explained how the conscious mind makes up only 17 per cent of the brain and the rest, the subconscious mind, is indeed the powerhouse.

He offered suggestions on how to feed positive bits of information to the subconscious mind by refraining from using negative words. For instance, if some one says, 'Thank You', instead of replying with 'no problem' it's better to use a positive response such as, 'you are welcome'.

The 24-year-old native of Flat Bay, NL graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish with a double major in psychology and philosophy.

Bennett says his own personal experience has proven to him just how powerful the mind is.

Contending with an obsessive-compulsive disorder as a teen, Bennett's was told he would be on medication for the rest of his life. A trip to the St. Anne's Shrine in Quebec and seeing a wall of crutches (that people had left behind) had the young man thinking very differently. With his newfound determination and belief in his own health, he cured himself of his OCD though, as he explained, the power of his mind and belief.

Bennett is the kind of motivational speaker who focuses on getting people to believe any logical dream is possible if it's sought after in a positive frame of mind. Negativity has no place in the quest for success and neither does worrying about what may be or never be.

Bennett delivered a very thought-provoking address with the aid of a slide presentation that further emphasized the great mysteries of the mind and its power.

Bennett has signed a major DVD deal with a television and commercial video production house. In 2006 Believe was produced. This DVD went on to be the first internationally broadcasted DVD of its kind in Canada. Bennett is currently starring in two television series, Supernatural Investigator and Occam's Razor.
